You’re sitting, needles and yarn in hand, watching your favorite series, and your hand starts to cramp. You ignore it at first, but it doesn’t go away. Then your fingers start to tingle and you sigh, putting your knitting down for just a minute before picking it back up again. You aren’t ready to stop knitting for the night, but it looks like that’s the only option.
As knitters, we have to take care of ourselves and take a break every once in a while (we’ve all caught ourselves saying “just one more row!” too many times). With our hand exercises for knitters, you can take little breaks in between stitching to stretch out your hands and fingers to keep from getting aches and pains. These exercises are short and easy, you’ll be able to complete them before the commercial break even ends!

Some of those could actually make repetitive strain worse if the person doing them has not been properly educated on how to do them. Please see a Doctor, Occupational Therapist, or Physical Therapist to set up a regimine.
Hi Jessica!
Of course, see a doctor if the pain worsens! These are stretches to take a break from knitting for a little bit and rest your muscles!

These also would work for people who crochet and sewing machine work. I can see they would work great for me.
Thank you for the knitters exercises . I have been knitting for years and I am getting arthrites in my fingers. my worst nightmare would be not to knit anymore.
Hi Regina,
We are really glad to hear that they helped you! Not being able to knit would be horrible, so we hope that the exercises continue to help you, and hopefully will relieve some of the stiffness you could be experiencing 🙂

I would love to be able to print out your exercises. How can a get a copy?
Hi Patricia,
We recommend you try printing from here – obviously they won’t be animated when you print them though 😉
Let us know if you need any more help and we will try and email you a file.

These are good ideas but the written instructions are too small for me to read and they are wiggly and unclear.
Hi Gayle,
We’re sorry to hear that you’re having difficulties reading the instructions. Let us know if you would like a plain-text copy of the instructions with bigger words emailed to you!
