And we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are joining the initiative “Blankets for Life” and putting our needles to work as part of this movement to help displaced Syrians.

What is Blankets for Life?

Blankets for Life is a project created in both solidarity and spontaneity with a sole common objective: to create blankets to donate to Syria though the Association for the Support of Syria (AAPS), with the goal of helping Syria and its refugees. Additionally, the blankets will also be sent alongside medications and other essential supplies.

There are already over 2,000 people who are connected to the project via Facebook, where they share their support for the movement and for Syria. However, the total number of knitters participating in this project is anticipated to be much higher, because of  those who have not expressed their support on Facebook, but are still working hard to create and send the blankets to the AAPS for distribution.

Where and When?

The activities of the movement are being recorded and shared on their public Facebook group, La Manta de La Vida.

If you live in Spain, you can send your blanket directly to the AAPS at: Asociación de Ayuda al Pueblo Sirio, Calle de la Marroquina 108, 28030 Madrid.

Supporters can knit a small piece, sized 50×50 cm(?), that can later be sewn together with other pieces. When 4 of this size are complete, together they form a blanket for a child, and 6 pieces will comfortably cover an adult. The AAPS will be accepting blankets until the 19th of October, at which point they will be sending them to Syria.

And you? Will you join us? Or have you already created your Blanket for Life?

We encourage you to participate and support this grand initiave, which we are both honored and proud to be a part of.

Love, Knitters

    1. Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your interest in helping! Blankets can be mailed to AAPS directly to the following address in Spain:

      Calle de la Marroquina 108
      28030 Madrid
      Spain

If you would prefer to avoid international shipping rates, there are several charities in the US that are accepting blankets for similar causes. Some that we found include:

http://embracerelief.org/keep-a-refugee-warm-this-winter-donate-blankets-to-syrian-refugees/ (located in NJ – address on page)
http://helpsyrianrefugees.us/ (located in VA – address on page)

      Thanks again!

Avec une pelote de grosse laine, combien on peut faire au point de riz, à peu près?
