How to crochet triangle stitch

In this post we’re going to teach you how to crochet triangle stitch. It’s a really quick and easy stitch to learn.

We chose to use our wool yarn balls to show you how it will turn out, but remember, you can also use any of the large array of colors we have available in cotton.

Cotton would work for spring and summer, and the triangles will come out smaller, your choice!

To crochet this stitch you will need:

– Wool or cotton in your favorite color.
– Your beechwood crochet hook.
– And to know how to work these two techniques: two double crochet triangle and three double crochet triangle.

Two double crochet triangle:

Yarn over. Insert the crochet hook into the third chain from your hook and yarn over again. Pull the hook back through to form three loops. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. You will have two loops on your hook.

Yarn over and insert your hook into the next chain. Yarn over again and draw the hook through to form four loops. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. You will now have three loops on your hook.

Yarn over and pull your hook through the first two loops. Repeat once more until you have one loop remaining on the hook.

Three double crochet triangle:

Yarn over. Insert the hook into the next chain and yarn over again. Pull the hook back through to form three loops. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. You will now have two loops on your hook.

Yarn over and insert your hook into the next chain. Yarn over again and draw the hook through to form four loops. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. You will now have 3 loops on the hook.

Yarn over and insert your hook into the next chain and yarn over again. Pull the hook through to form 5 loops. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. Yarn over and pull through the next two loops, repeat two more times until you have one loop remaining on your hook.

Make a foundation chain with a multiple of 3 + 4 stitches.

We’ll start by inserting the crochet hook into the third chain from the hook.

Row 1: insert the hook into the third chain from your crochet hook and make a two double crochet triangle.

*Chain 3 followed by a three double crochet triangle *. Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Chain 2. Turn your work.

Repeat row 1 until you reach the desired length, forming triangles in the holes formed by the chains in the previous row. Continuing in this manner you’ll decrease one triangle on each row.

You can use this stitch for almost anything, for example, if you make small triangles you can sew them together on the sides to make a geometric placemat or doily to decorate a table, if you make a few more and sew them together you’ll have a little blanket… Use your imagination and any leftover scraps of WAK wool you have around the house, the combination of the two will surely come out perfect 😉
