Hi knitters!

Today we are going to learn how to knit a magic lace stitch.

There are different types of lace stitches but this one is going to give lightness and a nice shape to all your WAK garments and projects. The Lace Stitch is famous for its little holes and is also very popular among knitters. Form new images and sensations on your designs!

This magic lace stitch is easy to knit and has a great result; big shapes and a zig-zag technique.

Now we are going to combine knitted stitches with purled stitches, to yarn over and ‘sskp’.

Please note: we use the ‘sskp’ (slip slip knit pass) to decrease double stitches (2 stitches and 2 stitches): slip one stitch onto your right needle, knit the next 2 stitches together and pass the slipped stitch onto your left needle. When doing ‘sskp’ you’ll need to slip two stitches together, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over, knit 1 more stitch and decrease 2 stitches.

Let’s start the magic lace stitch!

Cast on a multiple of 10 + 3 more stitches to start knitting the designs.

Row 1: knit 1 stitch. *Knit 1 stitch, make one yarn over, knit 3 stitches and 1 sskp*. Repeat step (*) until you have 2 stitches left and knit them.

Row 2 and all the even rows: purl all the stitches.

Row 3: knit 3 stitches, make one yarn over, knit 2 stitches, make 1 sskp, knit 2 stitches and make 1 yarn over. Repeat this step until you have 3 stitches left and knit them.

Row 5: knit 4 stitches, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 stitch, make 1 sskp, knit 1 stitch, make 1 yarn over and knit 1 more stitch. Repeat this step until you have 3 stitches left and knit them.

Row 7: knit 5 stitches, make 1 yarn over, make one sskp, one yarn over, and knit 2 stitches. Repeat this step until you have 3 stitches left and knit them.

Repeat these 8 rows and knit them on all your favorite WAK garments. 🙂

Show us your results on Instagram. Don’t’ forget the hashtag #weareknitters.

For this post we have used 8mm beechwood needles 100% Peruvian petite wool yarn ball in beige and a 100% Pima cotton yarn ball in fuchsia.

As you can already see, we have used two different types of yarn balls and colors. The result is really awesome! Why don’t you just have a look on our catalogue for new wool and cotton yarn balls? Choose your favorite colors for our knitting kits 😉
